Mark Gammon

Mark is the director of production with a Halifax-based architecture firm by day and spends his evenings and weekends, working hard on the ice, curling as part of the Canadian Pride Curling Association.

Mark took his passion for the sport all the way to the top, bringing the Canadian Pride Curling Champions to Halifax in 2023. The event brought teams from 10-member cities from across Canada together to battle it out to see who’s the best pride curling city in Canada.

WHY HE DID IT

Mark first and foremost an avid recreational curler who has been working with the bonspiel for the last 10-years. “I’m really passionate about both organizing the bonspiel and Halifax’s Pride Curling league, and bringing people here to the city,” said Mark. He was a natural fit to Co-Chair the Canadian Pride Curling Championships in Halifax.

Planning for the Championships was quite an undertaking, so he reached out to Discover Halifax to provide support. “Discover Halifax was more than helpful with finding accommodation and helping us with the planning,” said Mark. “It was fantastic.”

BIG OUTCOMES

The 2023 Canadian Pride Curling Championships brought over 20 out-of-town attendees to our city and contributed more than $250,000 to our economy in just three days.

Mark has already raised his hands to help plan another event, his League’s Bonspiel, which will bring 32 teams to Halifax to compete. We wish you the best of luck, Mark!
