Parade Square: Halifax Citadel National Historic Site

Inside the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site, the Parade Square offers a striking outdoor setting for receptions, dinners, and large-scale events.

The space is managed by Parks Canada. It’s able to accommodate up to 2,500 people and can host tents up to 120ft x 80x, giving planners the flexibility to design a fully customized event environment. The Parade Square rental is for the grounds only. All other aspects of your event (tent, chairs, tables, catering, etc.) have to be organized separately.

Events begin after the site is closed (5pm) to the public between May and October – ensuring a private and exclusive atmosphere for guests.

The space includes several amenities such as power, on-site security, parking, and washrooms. With its combination of historic character, flexible event spaces, and essential infrastructure, the Halifax Citadel provides a truly distinctive setting for unforgettable events.
